65. Spring Spruce-Up Workshops
Spring is a time for renewal, refreshing, rebirth, and cleansing. After huddling all winter long and letting the elements have their way with things, it is time to trim away any damage, wash away grit and grime, replant, repaint, and bring life back to living. That is why I love to learn how to do some of my own projects to save a little money and take a little pride in being able to claim that I did it myself.
None of us are born knowing how to do handyman projects. A great place to pick up a little practical knowledge is at the local Home Depot. Home Depot is the do-it-yourselfer's mecca for materials, inspiration and instruction. They offer lots of free mini-workshops that teach you how to get started on a project or even how to pick out the right appliances.
Workshops are offered on Saturdays and Sundays and topics range from painting, tile installation, interior projects that include repairs, updating and illuminating, and choosing new kitchen appliances with Energy Star and Eco Options. Some workshops even offer special discounts on products just for attendees.
This Sunday, from 1-2 p.m., you can register for the "New and Innovative Kitchen Appliances" workshop and receive 10% off all Energy Star appliances $398+, with free delivery and haul away. This workshop will discuss the latest innovations to help you upgrade or replace your major and small appliances. There are all kinds of appliances that include fashion and function to meet every budget.
You can sign up online at www.homeimproverclub.com/workshops or call the Home Depot at 512-868-3682. Sometimes a little workshop is all you need to gain the confidence to tackle all kinds of home improvement projects!
