17. Coyote Moon Coffee
I consider myself a bit of a coffee connoisseur and I do love local roasters and Georgetown has a recent addition to the coffee shop scene. Coyote Moon Coffee offers a great cup of coffee because they roast their own varieties.
To me the mark of a great restaurant is whether they serve a great cup of coffee of something they call coffee but more resembles brown water. I like coffee with taste, aroma, body and character. It is not merely a morning beverage but is a meditative moment of pure pleasure in the silky roasty flavor sensation of liquid bliss. A number of local restaurants in Georgetown now offer Coyote Moon coffees that they grind fresh and serve. Tres excellence!
After six months in business as a coffee roaster and wholesaler operating in a minimalist manufacturing space, Cynthia Garcia, owner of Coyote Moon Coffee, opened the coffee and espresso bar at the HEB store location at IH-35 and University Drive.
Now they have expanded and opened a coffee bar at a new location directly across from the shopping center at Williams Drive and Austin Avenue. And what's even better is that this location has a drive-thru window where you can pick up your gourmet cappuccino, espresso, or coffee on the way to work.
It is a small family business that prides itself on quality, service, roasting and serving the best cup of coffee from around the world. Coyote Moon hand selects the beans from growing regions around the world. The beans are inspected and stored in a controlled environment.
Beans are micro-roasted (in small batches) to develop the full taste of the coffee and at the end of roasting, the beans are cooled and packaged in highest quality bags with one-way valve to preserve flavor and aroma of the beans. Roasting coffee beans is 80% science and 20 % artistic flair according to Garcia.
The fresh roasted bagged coffee beans may be purchased at several locations around town: La Maison French Cuisine & Patisserie, City Center Beverages, Hill Country Bookstore, Southwestern University Bookstore and The Mercantile at Dyer Dairy. It can also be purchased online, and unusual in the coffee world, bagged coffee is sold in FULL pounds!
