8. Recycle Christmas Tree & Free Mulch
On a beautiful sunny Saturday, there's nothing I like better than to be outdoors. Today is a perfect day to take down all the Holiday decorations and bid adieu to the Noble Fir that served so well. So before the next blast of Arctic air hits, consider recycling that faithful tree at the City of Georgetown Collection Station. You can drop off the tree at the collection station or schedule a pick up. All the garlands, ornaments and lights have to be removed. If you are a Texas Disposal System customer in Georgetown, you have to call TDS at 512-930-1715, to schedule a free curbside tree pick up on one of two days: today Jan. 8th or next Saturday, Jan. 15th.
This is such a great option for limiting what goes into the landfill. Not only that, the trees are turned into mulch and the mulch is available all year, free of charge, at the collection station. Bring your current Utility Bill and photo I.D. and get an early start on gardening or mulch existing plantings. Mulch protects the soil from erosion, conserves moisture, maintains an even soil temperature, prevents weed growth, creates an ideal environment for earthworms and other beneficial soil organisms, keeps soil loose, increases root growth and beautifies the yard!
Wow! And there is nothing I love better than riding in the car, head out the window, and taking in all the wonderful aromas all the way there and back! Dog heaven!
